Birthplace of Scotland's Flag

The Scottish Flag Trust maintains the Flag Heritage Centre and Saltire Memorial located within the village.

The village is the birthplace of Scotland’s national flag and the Heritage Centre ( a four-star visitor attraction) is a converted doo’cot behind the parish church.

An audio visual presentation tells the story of the 832 battle in which the white cross of St Andrew appeared against a blue sky and inspired the Scots to victory.
