Glebe project – Raised beds/Lazy beds

We received our first delivery of wood chip on the 31 January. This came from East Lothian Council as arranged by Sam the Ranger. This will be used as mulch for plants and trees and for paths around our raised beds. The arrival of a cartload of manure and one of compost is imminent. So we need to get cracking!

One of the methods we plan to use to create these beds involves covering the intended area in soaked newspaper or cardboard and heaping manure/compost mixture on top to create the beginning of a bed for planting.

Another method involves laying down hessian-backed carpet.

So – we need to collect and store newspaper, cardboard and carpet. Does anyone have any shed/garage space to store this?

Once we have found somewhere we can start collecting!
